Low Emissivity Glass (Low-E Glass) is a type of glazing with a microscopic, transparent coating that improves the thermal efficiency of windows and doors. Low-E glass provides thermal control and enhanced insulation, as well as additional solar control when combined with a solar control glass in either a monolithic or insulating glass unit.

Low-E coatings, typically made of metallic oxides, reduce the emissivity of the glass surface. The glass reflects heat back into the room in the winter (reducing heat loss) and back out in the summer (reducing heat gain), which helps to regulate indoor temperatures with less strain on heating and cooling systems. The result is energy savings and increased comfort.
